Coronal Mass Ejections

Petroc Sesti's ongoing exploration of physical forces takes a different, yet consistently elemental turn with his series of burn works. The immediacy of energy exchange is what informs his current studio work, in the CME Series. Controlled deflagrations are employed to produce artworks, made in milliseconds, never twice the same, acting as canvases that trace the passage of raw energy.

Deflagrations within containers of gunpowder onto a variety of surfaces create symmetrical pieces, tracing the escape routes of the flame's explosive path, once again creating controlled environments for the free movement of energy.
