Memory of Matter

In Memory of Matter, Petroc Sesti interrogates the figurative form, the only representational element in his work, by creating wounds, craters, and voids that remain as a record of action. The series celebrates the power and energy of impact and its transformative effects on material. Produced in collaboration with the British military, 20-millimetre tank shells were fired into wax, deforming and warping the material, leaving behind what Sesti describes as the memory of matter.

Collider

Collider celebrates high speed, force, and the trace left by movement through space and time. Each void within the series records the passage of energy and impact. Like Memory of Matter, the work was created in collaboration with the British military, using 20-millimetre tank shells fired into wax to distort and reshape the material, leaving a lasting impression of energy captured in matter.
